Blumer leads Milton, other scores

Morgan Blumer continued her torrid start Tuesday night for the Milton High School girls basketball team.


The Red Hawk junior, who scored 32 points in the season opener, finished with 26 points to lead Milton to a 65-53 nonconference win over Lake Geneva Badger.


Milton (2-0) led by nine at half, but had to hold off Badger and Lana Wieseman in the second half. The Badger senior had 19 of her game-high 27 points in the second half, including a 12-for-14 effort from the free-throw line.


Liz Westrick added 16 points for Milton, which missed 14 of 26 free throws.

-- Monroe 55, Elkhorn 50—Elkhorn got within a point in the fourth quarter, but Monroe was able to hang on for a nonconference girls basketball win against visiting Elkhorn.


Sophomore forward Taylor Barrett scored 22 points to lead the Cheesemakers to their first victories in four games. She had nine of those in the third quarter when broke away from a 23-23 halftime score to take a 41-34 lead into the fourth quarter.


Allyson Reeves led the Elks with 13 points. Grace Ames had 12, while Erin Schahczinski and Emily Schahczinski each had 11. Elkhorn is 0-3.

Delavan-Darien (1-2) led 16-6 after one quarter and pushed the lead to 13 by half. Kylie Collins had 10 points to lead the Comets.
