Gonzales’ home run helps Beloit Snappers past LumberKings

CLINTON, IOWA — Michael Gonzales hit a three-run home run to highlight a four-run fifth inning Monday that carried the Beloit Snappers to a 6-3 victory over the Clinton LumberKings in Midwest League baseball.

Gonzales also doubled and went 3-for-4 to lead the Snappers’ 10-hit attack.

Beloit starting pitcher A.J. Achter (5-7) allowed three runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. Achter notched 10 strikeouts and walked two en route to the victory.

Snappers’ relievers Bart Carter and Jose Gonzalez notched three strikouts apiece to run Beloit’s total to 16. Clinton pitchers posted 13 strikeouts to make 29 strikeouts overall.
