Craig, Parker lose Big Eight tennis openers
Sarah Gray’s victory at No. 4 singles was the highlight for Janesville Craig’s girls tennis team in its Big Eight Conference dual meet opener Thursday.
Madison West won all three doubles matches and three of four singles matches to post a 6-1 win.
Gray, a senior, won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Craig’s Hayley Hughes and Kenzie Trappe suffered their first loss of the season at No. 3 doubles.
“That was a great win for Sarah,” Craig coach Bill Peyer said. “And as a team, I’m proud of the way we competed. West is one of the top two teams in our conference along with Middleton.”
Craig will play at Verona on Tuesday.
