Janesville Parker, Craig fall in soccer openers

Jake Olson scored two goals to lead Evansville to a 3-0 nonconference boys soccer victory at Janesville Craig Tuesday night in the season opener for both teams.

Olson scored at 31:12 of the first half, then added a second-half goal at 55:00. Cody Pinnow scored the final goal for Evansville.

Craig goalie Peter Cooney recorded eight saves.

-- Monona Grove 4, Parker 0—Xavier McDonald scored three goals of the visiting Silver Eagles’ four first-half goals to defeat the Vikings in their season opener.

After allowing four goals, the Vikings settled down.

“We did some switching around (in the second half),” Parker coach Andy Holmes said. “We put some players in different places, and they responded with better play.’’
