Gold rush is on for some local jewelry stores
The sky high market price for gold, and an economy in the basement, have created a lot of business for some local jewelry stores.
Linda Hakala co-owns Greater Midwest Trading Company in Milton with her husband. As market prices for gold incresase, so do the number of people looking to cash in their jewelry. She says most need to use the money to pay bills.
Hakala says, some days have been a little crazy recently, as gold topped $1700 an ounce. It was only $300 when the shop opened in 2003.
