— The man suspected of cutting his own throat before cutting the throats of the woman who lived with him and their daughter was transferred Monday from Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center, Janesville, to Winnebago Mental Health Institute near Oshkosh for a mental evaluation, Janesville police Sgt. Dean Sukus said.

The department will forward reports to the Rock County District Attorney's Office, he said.

Police responded at 3:49 a.m. Sunday to a report of injured people at 162 S. Cherry St.

Nathan L. Kropp, 30, is accused of cutting his neck with a razor blade after hearing voices in his head and then cutting the necks of his girlfriend and their 4-year-old child.

The three were taken to Mercy Hospital for treatment. The girlfriend and the child have been released from the hospital, Sukus said.

Kropp was arrested on a tentative charge of recklessly endangering safety with a domestic-violence enhancer.

No charges have been filed pending a mental evaluation, Lt. Timothy Hiers said.
