— The Beloit Snappers were hoping an eight-game homestand could vault them into the Midwest League playoff picture.

Instead, the Snappers have lost five straight and are seeing their playoff hopes fade away.

Kane County scored three runs in the top of the first inning and coasted to a 10-4 win over the Snappers at Pohlman Field here Thursday night.

Beloit cut the lead to 3-2 in the second, but Kane County responded with three more runs in the fourth to break the game open.

Sam Spangler lasted only four innings in suffering the loss.

The two teams will wrap up the four-game series today at 7 p.m. Beloit hosts Quad Cities in a four-game series beginning Saturday night.
