Loss ends Orfordville's hopes for postseason spot

Any hopes of qualifying for the postseason came to an end Sunday afternoon for the Orfordville Orioles.

Kyle Bates homered and picked up the win to lead Utica to an 11-2 win over Orfordville in a Home Talent game in West Division of the Southeast Section. The Orioles were eliminated from postseason play with the loss.

Utica (8-8) opened up a 6-2 lead in the third inning before breaking the game open with four in the seventh.

Ryan Schmitz had three of Orfordville’s (10-5) 11 hits.
