Driver in fatal crash to appear in court
GENEVA TOWNSHIP A 48-year-old truck driver from Lewisburg, Tenn., is expected to appear in Walworth County Court today on a possible charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle for his involvement in a fatal crash.
The man was driving a semi-trailer tractor Wednesday afternoon on Highway 12 when his rig slammed into a guard rail on the overpass of McLean Road and rolled down a steep embankment.
Preliminary evidence showed a passenger in the truck, also from Tennessee, was not secured in his seat at the time of the crash and was partly ejected from the tractor through its windshield, a Wisconsin State Patrol spokesman said.
The driver received minor injuries, the spokesman said. Diesel fuel spilled from the tractor but was cleaned up.
