Janesville School Board expels 2
JANESVILLE The Janesville School Board expelled two middle school students Tuesday.
One student was accused of possession of marijuana on school grounds. The student is expelled through the end of first semester in the 2011-12 school year but could apply for reinstatement starting with summer school 2011.
To qualify for early reinstatement, the student must comply with conditions that include continuing with counseling and any prescribed medications and avoiding further criminal behavior.
If reinstated early, the student must allow random contraband searches and maintain satisfactory behavior, attendance and schoolwork, among other conditions.
The other student was accused of possessing a knife with a 2.5-inch blade on school grounds. The student is expelled through the end of the 2011-12 school year but may apply for reinstatement starting with summer school 2011.
Early-reinstatement conditions are similar to those listed above.
This brings to nine the number of students expelled this school year, compared with 23 at this time last year.
