— Janesville Craig’s long wait to get back into action paid off Wednesday in Big Eight boys tennis.

Craig High withstood Beloit Memorial’s victories by Perry Campbell and Ben Goodwin at No. 1 and 2 singles, respectively, and pulled off a 3-0 doubles sweep to gain a 5-2 victory over the Purple Knights at Palmer Park.

“It was our first match in 14 days, and everbody played well,” said Craig coach Justin Long, whose team improved to 2-0 in the conference and 4-1 overall.

Sam dePoutiloff and Joe Worple won for the Cougars in No. 3 and 4 singles. The doubles sweep featured wins by Stewart Winter-Mo McCrone, Zack Harden-Cody Lipetri, and Katsumi Neeno-Ross Sroda.
