— Middleton swept a doubleheader from Janesville Parker, 8-3 and 11-1, in Big Eight Conference softball at the Janesville Youth Sports Complex on Saturday.

The Cardinals (4-4 in the Big Eight, 4-4 overall) collected 22 hits in the sweep.

“They didn’t hit the ball extremely hard,” said Parker assistant coach Nick Schneider. “But they hit it where we weren’t.”

Parker (2-5, 2-8) trailed, 3-1, after four innings in the opener, but the Cardinals took control with a four-run fifth. Natalie McDonald led the Vikings’ eight-hit attack by going 4-for-4. Erin Muehlenkamp added a double.
