Investigators believe the bullet that struck Hudson might have came from a vehicle driving southbound on I-90, according to a news release from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office.
Dane County detectives and crime scene investigators are working with the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Illinois law enforcement agencies after multiple reports of similar shooting incidents were reported Wednesday night, all near the interstate in Illinois.
Dane County Sheriff Dave Mahoney is attempting to schedule a meeting next week with the sheriffs in Rock County and Winnebago (Ill.) County. Authorities will discuss the similarities of each shooting and develop a plan to move forward with the investigation. A press conference will be scheduled after the meeting.
The Edgerton-area shooting occurred at 4:13 p.m. on Goede Road, when a bullet reportedly came through the door of a home and struck Hudson’s hip, Dane County officials said. The bullet went through a couch where the woman was sitting before it hit her, officials said.
Hudson was hospitalized with serious but not life threatening injuries.
The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is asking for people who live along the I-90 corridor to check their homes and property for damage that might have been caused by gunfire. Anyone who finds damage or has information regarding this incident should call the Tipster Hotline at (608) 284-6900.
