Janesville Craig softball slams West, Parker loses
Nicole Kelly had the biggest hit of Janesville Craig’s offensive barrage against visiting Madison West on Thursday.
Kelly hit a grand slam in the third inning to lead the Cougars to a 17-0 Big Eight Conference softball win.
“It was a line drive,” said Craig coach Dan Bayreuther, whose team won its third game in a row. “But up and down the lineup, we were swinging the bats pretty good.”
Craig is 3-2 in the Big Eight and 3-4 overall.
Kelly also had a double in the Cougars’ 16-hit attack. Jill Blanchard went 3-for-3, Stephanie Perleberg went 3-for-4, and Haley Bayreuther and Stephanie Kalish each had two hits.
Cougar pitcher Paige Weber gave up a single to the first Regent hitter she faced, and then held the visitors hitless the rest of the way. She struck out six.

n Memorial 9, Parker 5—It took Parker a few innings to shake off the rust, and host Madison Memorial took advantage.
The Spartans built a 7-1 lead in the first three innings and won the Big Eight Conference game.
“Memorial had some solid hitting,” said Parker coach Jenni Seisser. “We hadn’t played since last Wednesday. That was a factor even though we had practiced inside.”
Lindsey Clauer went 2-for-3 to lead the Parker nine-hit attack. Clauer had two RBIs, and Jacque Ludois went 1-for-1 and had three sacrifice bunts.
Seisser was pleased with her team’s defense, which was highlighted by a double play turned by shortstop Natalie McDonald, second baseman Cierra Carney and Ashley Ross.
Parker, 2-3 in the Big Eight and 2-6 overall, plays Middleton in a doubleheader Saturday at the Youth Sports Complex.
