Beyer boosts Warhawks
WHITEWATER Janesville Parker High graduate Matt Beyer’s solo homer and sacrifice fly helped UW-Whitewater edge Concordia (Ill.),
7-6, in a nonconference baseball game played at Prucha Field at Jim Miller Stadium here Thursday.
The Warhawks, ranked 10th in the D3baseball.com poll improved to 21-5. Concordia, ranked 25th, is 20-5.
Beyer’s first homer of the season in the fourth put the Warhawks up, 5-4. His sacrifice fly in the sixth tied the game at 6-all, and Dylan Friend followed with an RBI single that scored Jared Fon with what turned out to be the game-winning run.
Justin Lambert (4-1) pitched 4 1/3 innings in relief of Warhawk starter Riley Tincher to earn the win.
Catcher Rob Coe and designated hitter Sam Keller Jr. each drove in two runs.
Whitewater returns to WIAC action Wednesday when its hosts UW-Platteville in a doubleheader.
