Beloit Snappers fall short
PEORIA, ILL. Beloit rallied to score all four of its runs in the fifth inning Thursday night, but the Snappers fell, 5-4, in Midwest League baseball when Peoria scored a run in the bottom of the inning.
The game was shortened to seven innings.
Peoria scored three runs in the second inning, highlighted by Arismendy Alcantara’s two-run triple.
Peoria added another run in the fourth when Alcantara singled to score D.J. Fitzgerald.
Beloit then came back with four runs in the fifth.
Tobias Streich and Wang-Wei Lin hit back-to-back singles, Andy Leer doubled to drive in Streich. After a pitching change, Daniel Santana’s triple scored two runs. The Snappers’ final run came on a groundout by Lance Ray that scored Santana.
Peoria scored the winning run in the fifth on a two-out single by Elliot Soto.
