Whitewater Warhawks roll past Edgewood

WHITEWATER — UW-Whitewater pounded out 25 hits Monday en route to a doubleheader sweep over visiting Edgewood College in nonconference college baseball.

The Warhawks (20-5) notched 14 hits for a 12-2 Game 1 victory and added 11 more hits in Game 2 for a 14-2 win. The mercy rule ended both games.

Jeff Donovan had a perfect day at the plate, going 3 for 3 in each game. Jared Fon had two hits in each game and added a pair of doubles.

Mathew Roberts (1-1) went the distance for Whitewater for the Game 1 victory, allowing two runs on seven hits. Tom Kerndt (1-0) worked six innings and allowed two runs on six hits to win the second game.

Whitewater hosts Concordia University (Illinois) at 1 p.m. Thursday.
