Ninth-inning rally lifts Beloit Snappers to victory

GRAND CHUTE — The visiting Beloit Snappers rallied for four runs in the ninth inning to post a 4-2 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in Midwest League baseball Monday.

The Snappers were held scoreless on four hits through the first eight innings and trailed 2-0. Beloit scored four runs on six hits.

Lance Ray and Oswaldo Arcia opened the Snappers’ ninth with back-to-back doubles to cut the Snappers’ deficit to 2-1. Michael Gonzalez ripped an RBI single after Arica moved to third on a wild pitch to knot it 2-2.

Kyle Knudson’s single scored pinch runner Jamaal Hawkins with the lead run. Andy Leer’s single plated Knudson for the final run.

Snappers reliever Jose Gonzales got the final out in the ninth for the save. Mathew Hauser (2-0) gained the victory, allowing one hit through 1 2/3 innings of relief.
