— Authorities are investigating an accident early Thursday morning that killed a Brodhead man after he crashed his farm tractor into a parked car.

The driver, Patrick Holland, 28, died at the scene, according to Brodhead police.

According to a news release from the Brodhead Police Department:

At 3:53 a.m., Brodhead Police, Fire and EMS responded to a report of a tractor accident on 14th Street just west of East 2nd Avenue. An initial investigation revealed the tractor left the road and collided with a parked vehicle, causing the tractor to overturn.

Holland was trapped under the tractor and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The press release did not contain information about circumstances leading to the crash, and Police Chief Tom Moczynski was not available Thursday.

About 20 gallons of fuel oil leaked from the tractor, and personnel from the Green County Emergency Management and an environmental warden from the state Department of Natural Resources responded to assess the spill.

Officials said there was no indication any fuel entered the city sewer system. Brodhead public works employees were expected to spend most of Thursday afternoon removing and replacing the topsoil.

Brodhead police, Wisconsin State Patrol and Green County Coroner continue to investigate.
