Area organizations seeking volunteers

— Volunteers are needed by these organizations:

-- Rock County Parks—Instructors for fishing and boating educational programs to area schools as field trips for first- through seventh-graders under the leadership of parks staff. Volunteers also can join park staff on a Sunday in mid-April for garlic mustard removal.

-- Girls Who Rock—Adult role models are needed for this hands-on after-school program that engages at-risk fifth-grade girls in leadership, mentoring and community partnerships Wednesdays at Merrill Elementary School except on early-release days.

-- Voluntary Action Center—Knit, crocheted or sewn baby blankets are needed by a number of Stateline area agencies for distribution. Donations of yarn or knitting needles for use by volunteers also are needed.

-- Cedar Crest—Long-term volunteers are needed to help older adults living in a continuing care senior living community in Janesville with games, crafts, indoor sports and computer labs.

-- The Banyan Tree—A volunteer sales clerk and volunteer marketing assistant are needed.
