— Police continued searching Monday for the man armed with a handgun who robbed the Hooch Hut liquor store Friday.

The store, 205 S. Wright St., is in a shopping mall near state Highway 50 and Interstate 43.

The robber was described as being about 6 feet tall, in his 30s and wearing a hooded sweatshirt with the word Security on it, according to police.

A witness told police that the getaway vehicle was a tan and maroon van with numerous bumper stickers, a spare tire mounted on the back and Illinois plates.

The van later was found in a parking lot near the Hooch Hut. The van was traced to owners in Illinois.
