— The numbers held steady, and former board member Ryan Simons will be the new chairman of the Delavan Town Board.

Simons beat incumbent Dorothy Burwell 638 to 635. A recount Monday showed no changes.

"It was a good count," Burwell said. "There were no questionable ballots."

Simons, 45, is a broker associate with Keefe Real Estate, Delavan. He has served one term on the town board. Simons in September was one of three board members who voted to table plans for the 623-home Shodeen development, which has been a controversial issue in the township for several years.

In June, Simons was the only board member to vote against hiring the U.S. Department of Agriculture to capture and kill Canada geese from the town's Community Park and other areas.

Voters also elected Herb Sessner and Kim Jedlicka to the town board.
