Snappers fall to Quad Cities

The Beloit Snappers dropped the first game of a scheduled doubleheader, 8-1, to the host Quad City River Bandits Saturday night.

Quad Cities jumped on Beloit starting pitcher Logan Darnell for four runs in the first inning. In three innings, Darnell gave up five earned runs on five hits and struck out four.

The River Bandits had nine hits, led by Nick Longmire, who went 3-for-4, and Oscar Taveras, who had two hits including a home run and two RBIs.

Quad Cities starting pitcher Jordan Swagerty worked six of the seven innings, allowing just four hits and striking out five.

Beloit and Quad City are scheduled to complete their four-game series today.

The Snappers' home opener is 6:30 p.m. Monday against Clinton, the first in a seven-game homestand for Beloit.
