Demos ties Whitewater school record
Shelly Demos was at it again Friday night for UW-Whitewater's women's track and field team.
Demos, a sophomore out of Janesville Parker High School, tied her school record and the track record with a height of 5 feet, 6 inches in winning the high jump at the Rex Foster Open.
That performance made Demos a provisional qualifier for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships.
Whitewater seniors Jessa Luebke and Megan Blake took first and third in the hammer throw with distances of 168-5 and 157-8.5, respectively. Both also qualified provisionally for the outdoor championships.
Blake and Luebke also took first and second in the shot put with distances of 41-10 and 40-8.75, respectively.
Warhawk senior Sara Poppe had one of the strongest performances in winning the long jump and triple jump with distances of 18-0 and 37-3.75, respectively.
