Town of Delavan chair position comes down to recount
DELAVAN TOWNSHIP The race for Town of Delavan chairperson will come down to a recount Monday to determine if there’s any change in Ryan Simons’ three-vote lead over incumbent Dorothy Burwell.
Burwell filed for a recount the day after Tuesday’s election, which showed her trailing Simons 638 to 635 votes. The recount will be conducted at 9 a.m. Monday and is expected to conclude by late afternoon, according to the town clerk’s office.
Neither Simons nor Burwell could not be reached by the Gazette for comment.
Simons, a realtor and town board members since April 2009, has been at odds with Burwell over several issues in the township. The two differed on tabling plans for a 623-home Shodeen development and on capturing and killing Canada geese from the Community Parks and surrounding areas.
Burwell was elected chairwoman in 2009. She also served as town clerk from 1999 to 2001 and was a member of the Walworth County Board from 1997 to 2008.

3 vote spread.. Wow. Lets analyze the real choice here, & see what the odds are of a "3 Vote lead", downing an Incumbent. A Realtor, with special interest (I'm sure) in a property development plan, running against the, "Town of Delavan Chairperson, Incumbent, who isn't so easily convinced the development plan is in the best interest of her constituents, nor the City. The Challenger- Now Chairperson won by 3 votes.. I hope someone honest was watching these counters of the votes because the odds of unseating a incumbent by 3 votes.. I have a better chance of hitting the lotto jack pot.
