— The name of Footville Village Board incumbent Chuck Hagmann was pulled from a basket Wednesday, giving him a seat on the board.

Hagmann and Nate Beal had tied in Tuesday's election with 92 votes each.

Officials recounted all the ballots Tuesday night and came up with the same results, she said.

State statutes say a winner "shall be chosen by lot" in the case of a tie, Village Clerk Chris Carlson said. The board of canvass met at 10 a.m. to pick the winner by putting both names in a basket and drawing one, she said.

David Butzler was the top vote getter with 107, while incumbent William Case took a second seat with 95 votes.

Three seats were up for election Tuesday. The fourth-place candidate, incumbent Donald W. Miller, had 91 votes.
