— Two new faces will join the Clinton Community School District, and one incumbent lost his seat on the board.

The top vote-getter will serve her first public office as a school board member.

Jill Gunderson, 9414 S. Clinic Road, Beloit, has been a longtime volunteer in the district but has never held public office.

Gunderson and Evelyn Propp, 4204 E. Creek Road, Beloit, are new to the board.

They join incumbent Cathy Wendtland, 7723 S. Buss Road, Clinton. Wendtland was first elected to the board in 2008.

“I care deeply about education in Clinton, about kids,” Gunderson said. “I’ve been a volunteer for a long, long time. This is just the next step. I feel like I can give it my all.”

Gunderson has been the president and held other offices in the Clinton Home and School Association and also has been an officer in the Clinton Booster Club.

Gunderson said her dream is to get more children inspired to take part in the opportunities the district provides. One tool to success is getting families involved, she said.

That also is a tool to covering budget shortages, Gunderson said.

“With budget cuts, we’ll need all the help we can get,” she said.

Incumbent Art Braband, 7229 S. Water St., Beloit, was not re-elected. He has served on the board since 2001.
