— A 20-year-old Burlington man will serve 90 days in Walworth County Jail as a condition of his being placed on four years of probation for cashing checks from a Lake Geneva physician without his permission.

Coty J. Maki has pleaded guilty to two counts of identity theft for financial gain. Eight identical counts were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

According to a criminal complaint, Maki stole personal checks from William Harris and forged his signature to cash them between June 2009 and July 2010. The total of the checks was $2,030.
