Rock County Board Supervisor Marv Wopat admits he has a soft spot for the underdog.

The Milton resident has been appointed to the newly formed Wisconsin Access to Justice Commission. The members are assigned the task of helping low income residents navigate the legal system. The commission was formed by the State Supreme Court in response to a growing need for low or no-cost legal aid in civil matters.

A recent State Bar study showed each year, 45% of poor to moderately low-income Wisconsin households will experience a need for legal advice, but often go unrepresented.
