Ryan Nyhagen threw, kicked and intercepted Stoughton High past visiting Fort Atkinson, 23-6, in Badger South football Friday night.


Nyhagen threw a 65-yard scoring pass off a fake punt, kicked a 37-yard field goal and two extra points and picked off two Fort Atkinson passes as Stoughton went to 1-2 in the Badger and 3-2 overall.


The homecoming win also led to Viking coach Sean Stokes receiving a Mohawk haircut after the game.


Fort (1-2, 1-4) got within 7-6 in the second quarter on Drew Dunkleberger’s five-yard pass to Michael Knutson, but Nyhagen then threw his 65-yard scoring pass to Ben Mikkelson on a fake punt to give Stoughton a 13-6 halftime lead.

The Cheesemakers moved to within 7-6 on Brian Tordoff’s


12-yard TD reception from Cam Elmer with 11 minutes left, but the extra-point attempt was wide. Edgewood (4-1, 2-0) responded with its final TD drive, helped by a 43-yard pass reception to the Monroe 20.


Monroe, 0-3 in the Badger and 0-5 overall, drove to the Edgewood 35 but lost a fumble with five minutes left.
