La Follette adds to list of frustrating Craig tennis losses

Janesville Craig’s girls tennis team suffered its third one-point loss of the Big Eight Conference dual meet season Thursday.


Madison La Follette won three of four singles matches en route to a 4-3 win over the Cougars.


Craig High (3-5) got wins from Claire Gloede (17-3) at No. 4 singles, along with the doubles teams of Taylor Storbakken and Maggie Bolton at No. 1, and Minaliza Shahlapour and Siarra Sroda at No. 2.


“We could just as easily be 6-2 in the Big Eight,” Craig High coach Bill Peyer said. “We’ve lost three really tough matches.”

Doubles: Taylor Storbakken-Maggie Bolton (C) def. Anna Burant-Monica Ripp, 6-1, 6-0; Minaliza Shahlapour-Siarra Sroda (C) def. Maddine Erce-Maria Blechel, 6-1, 6-2; Emilee Verhag-Laurel Szalkowski (L) def. Devon Timblin-Brianna Lane, 6-4, 6-4.
