Janesville Parker sweeps Beloit in Big Eight tennis finale

Janesville Parker High School defeated Beloit Memorial, 7-0, to conclude the Big Eight Conference girls tennis season Wednesday at Beloit.


Overall, it was a successful year,” Parker coach Justin Long said. “We had one of the best, if not the best record overall record.”


Parker finished the season 5-4 in the Big Eight.


Long said the Vikings’ players were at least five matches over .500 in individual matches.


“It speaks to the competitiveness of our team and our character,” Long said.


The Vikings host Milton and Jefferson next Tuesday at Palmer Park.

Craig falls to Middleton

Janesville Craig High School lost 6-1 to Middleton in Big Eight Conference tennis Wednesday.


Minaliza Shahlapour and Ciarra Sroda notched the Cougars’ lone victory at No. 2 doubles.


“Our kudos go to Minaliza and Ciarra,” Craig coach Bill Peyer said. “We won at No. 2 doubles, but the other matches went the other way.’’


Craig (3-4) faces Madison La Follette on Thursday and concludes the regular conference season facing Sun Prairie on Monday.
