The Janesville Jets took a step up in competition and were knocked back down, 5-0, by the host Green Bay Gamblers in an exhibition junior hockey game Tuesday.

The Gamblers are the defending Anderson Clark Cup champions.

“They are a step above (us),” said Jets coach Dane Litke. “They won their league last year and they are a very good team.

“They were just better, bigger, stronger and faster,” Litke said. “Our kids were kind of in awe of was going on.’’

Jets goalkeeper Tony Kujava made 28 saves in 33 attempts.

Janesville hosts Coulee Region at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Janeville Ice Skating Center.
