Quarterback Austin Fritzinger has a strong arm, but he used his feet Friday night to keep Delavan-Darien High’s unbeaten football team in a tie for the Southern Lakes lead with a 40-21 victory over visiting Union Grove.


Fritzinger had TD runs of 70 and 26 yards en route to gaining a game-high 190 yards on 10 carries. Teammate Justin Fowlkes added TD runs of 7, 16 and 2 yards and gained 157 yards on 16 carries.


The Comets, who share first place with Elkhorn and Waterford, improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the Southern Lakes. The Broncos fell to 0-4 and 0-2.

Elkhorn is tied for first place in the conference with Delavan-Darien and Waterford.


Elks quarterback Chris Fryman threw for 171 yards and two touchdowns.


Austin Damascher rushed for 226 yards and two touchdowns for Westosha (2-2, 1-1).

n Waterford 21, Burlington 18—The defending champion Wolverines (3-1, 2-0) bounced back from a 12-0 first-quarter deficit to defeat the Demons (1-3, 0-2) and remain tied for the Southern Lakes lead.


Kevin Caufield staggered Burlington with a 92-yard touchdown return on the opening kickoff and Nick Reda caught a 5-yard touchdown pass to put Burlington ahead, 12-0.


Waterford answered with three straight TDs including a pair of Zach Fischer touchdown passes and 5-yard TD run.
