— Madison La Follette’s depth was the difference Thursday in the Lancers’ 93-77 victory over Janesville Craig in Big Eight Conference swim.

Craig (1-2-1), despite individual wins from Ashley Fry and Cady Gansen, came up short in its bid to get above the .500 mark.

“They just had a few more girls score points than we did in a couple of events, but we battled hard all the way through,” Craig coach Brian Kitzman said. “It was another solid team effort on our part.

“Hopefully, we built some confidence and that can carry on into our next meet.”

Fry won the 50 freestyle in 27.23, while Gansen was victorious in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:13.54.

The Cougars will host state powerhouse Madison Memorial on Friday, Sept. 24.
