Galvin leads East past Beloit

Tyrone Galvin was a one-man wrecking crew for Madison East on Thursday night in Big Eight Conference football.


The Purgolder junior rushed for 159 yards and six touchdowns to lead East to a thrilling 54-52 win over Beloit Memorial.


Beloit’s Brock Chancy scored five touchdowns, but it was not enough as East denied the Purple Knights’ two-point conversion pass late in the game.


East (1-3) took a 34-14 halftime lead, but Beloit (0-4) stormed back behind quarterback Jeff Hollenbach. The senior finished with 387 yards passing and two touchdowns.

Mike Mwelwa ran for 110 yards and one touchdown, while Ross Harmon caught nine passes for 139 yards for Sun Prairie (4-0).


Memorial (2-2) took an early lead on Mitchell Wade’s 24-yard touchdown reception from Brett Wise.


Sun Prairie took the lead for good on Jordan Noble’s 30-yard field with 4:45 left in the first half.
