— UW-Rock County slipped past host UW-Sheboygan, 5-4, in Wisconsin Collegiate Conference soccer Wednesday.

The Ratters’ Taylor Pavlik scored the winning goal in the 80th minute with an assist from Jon Martinez. UW-Rock played the final 30 minutes a man short after Janesville Craig graduate Grant Jahns received a double yellow card.

“We were a man down and still pulled it out,” UW-Rock coach Grant McNall said. “We really pulled together as a team.”

UW-Rock blew up Sheboygan in the first half, rolling to a 3-0 advantage. Sheboygan bounced back to knot the game, 3-3, at the break.

Luke Smith scored at 44 minutes to put the Rattlers ahead, 4-3, but a hand ball call led to a successful penalty kick for Sheboygan to tie it, 4-4.

UW-Rock hosts UW-Fox Valley in a rematch of last season’s conference championship match at 1 p.m. Saturday.
