Janesville Parker golfers sweep Big Eight finale

— Janesville Parker High School closed the Big Eight Conference girls golf regular season with a sweep over Sun Prairie, Madison Memorial and Madison East on Wednesday at The Bridges.

Parker posted a 393, Sun Prairie 394, Memorial 396 and East 441. The Vikings went 7-2 to conclude the conference season.

“We defeated the teams we wanted to,” Parker first-year coach Mary Ross said. “That was our goal.’’

Amanda Becker had a 91 (46-45) to lead the Vikings. Taylor Utzig added a

92 (44-48), Jennifer Polglaze shot 104 (58-46) and Maggie O’Leary had a 106 (53-53) for Parker.

East’s Alex Douglas fired a 1-under-par 71 for medalist honors.

Parker hosts the Parker Invitational at 7:30 a.m. Saturday in a shotgun start at Riverside Golf Course.

Teams playing Saturday are: Beloit Memorial, Janesville Parker, Janesville Craig, Edgerton, Madison Edgewood, Madison Memorial, Middleton, Madison La Follette, Madison East, Madison West, Sun Prairie, Milton, Kettle Moraine, Mount Horeb, Milwaukee Pius, Stoughton, Union Grove, East Troy, Elkhorn, McFarland, Mukwonago, Portage, Verona, Waunakee, Wisconsin Dells and Parker.
