A nationally recognized authority on bullying brings her message of hope to Janesville.

Jodee Blanco shared her past problems with bullying, and modern solutions at St. John Vianney School Thursday. Blanco says children are being given a mixed message. On one hand, they're told to stand up for others, but if they have a problem, they should ignore the bully and the bully will go away. She says this adult logic does not work in a teenage situation. Blanco suggests parents with concerns enroll their children in an activity away from school and classmates.

She says it's important children have an opportunity to develop socially without fear of being bullied.
