Jets complete weekend sweep

The opening weekend of the NAHL season was a successful one for the Janesville Jets.

Janesville slipped past the Chicago Hitmen, 3-2 on Saturday night to sweep the weekend home-and-home series.

The Jets (2-0) took a 3-0 lead in the second period on Jacob Horton’s power-play goal at 3:03, but the Hitmen cut the lead to one on back-to-back goals.

David Jacobson, a 2009 Janesville Parker graduate, picked up the win in goal for Janesville. He stopped 27 shots Saturday after also earning a win Friday night in the Jets’ home opener.

Janesville faces the New Mexico Mustangs at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday in the NAHL Showcase at Blaine, Minn.
