Justin Fowlkes added more yards and touchdowns to his impressive season to keep Delavan-Darien High Schoolís football team undefeated as it opened the Southern Lakes Conference season Friday night.


Fowlkes rushed for 207 yards and scored five touchdowns to lead the Comets (3-0) to a 40-20 victory at Lake Geneva Badger.


Fowlkes needed just 16 carries to accumulate his yards, which included scoring runs of 65, 13, 8, 36 and 51 yards. His 65-yard touchdown run broke a 7-7 tie in the second quarter and started a run of 27 points for the winners.


Austin Fritzinger threw a 20-yard pass to Jordan Hesebeck for the Cometsí other score. Fritzinger also rushed 14 times for 104 yards as Delavan-Darien piled up 353 total rushing yards. The Comets also passed for 130 yards, with Hesebeck catching four passes for 116 yards.


Trevor York led Badger (0-3) with 158 yards on 21 carries, including an 11-yard scoring run.

Wilmot scored on 34-yard pass to Matt Christensen from Chris Nelson, but missed the conversion kick with 7:41 to play. The Panthers missed a 23-yard field-goal attempt with five minutes remaining to end their last scoring threat.


Elkhorn prevailed despite posting seven first downs to Wilmotís 14, losing three fumbles and getting outgained in the air 167 to 50.
