— Janesville Craig’s girls volleyball team picked up an impressive victory Thursday night.

The Cougars slipped past perennial Big Eight powerhouse Sun Prairie, 3-1, to improve to 1-1 in the conference.

Craig High won the last two games, 25-19 and 25-18, to secure the victory.

“They’ve been at the top of our league for so long and were picked to be there again this year,” Craig coach Blake Budrow said of the Cardinals. “That’s why this was such a big win for us.

“We got a great team effort tonight, and strong individual performances from Chelsea Sheedy, Emily Hinman and Emma Becher.”

Becher led the Cougars with five aces, while Sheedy played a strong all-around game. Hinman led the team with five block kills at the net.

Craig will compete in the Elkhorn Invitational on Saturday.
