Janesville Craig doubles team delivers

Devon Timblin and Brianna Lane had everyone watching them as they finished their No. 3 doubles match Tuesday afternoon.

The Janesville Craig doubles team didn’t disappoint its teammates, pulling out a three-set win to give the visiting Cougars a 4-3 Big Eight Conference victory in windy conditions at Madison East.

Craig is 3-1 in the Big Eight.

The Cougars’ Courtney Spiegler improved to 14-2 at No. 4 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Craig’s Taylor Storbakken and Maggie Fulton won at No. 1 doubles, as did the No. 2 doubles team of Minaliza Shahlapour and Ciarra Sroda to complete the doubles sweep for Craig.

The Cougars compete in the Blackshirt Invitational at Waukesha on Saturday.

Parker’s match Tuesday at Madison La Follette was postponed until today.


Singles—Jessie Rodgers (ME) def. Kelly Collins, 6-0, 6-4; Heidi Thiel (ME def. Kailee Rossing, 6-0, 6-0; Karly Bolz (ME) def. Sarah Gray, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1; Courtney Spiegler (JC) def. Ahna Stoker, 6-1, 6-1.

Doubles—Taylor Storbakken-Maggie Fulton (JC) def. Ahna Spiekerman-Maggie Douglas, 6-1, 6-4; Minaliza Shahlapour-Ciarra Sroda (JC) def. Sadie Jimenez-Emmy Thiel, 6-1, 6-1; Devon Timblin-Brianna Lane (JC) def. Jessica Pordouski-Crystal Pordouski, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1.

Junior varsity—Craig 5, East 2. Craig is 4-0 in the Big Eight.
