Delavan-Darien High’s football team is showing it has an offense that can light up scoreboard.

One week after scoring 62 points against Whitewater, the Comets (2-0) went to Walworth and beat the defending WIAA Division 4 state champions, 34-14, Friday night.

Justin Fowlkes led the Comet charge. He gained 183 yards on 21 carries, including scoring runs of 38, 69 and 28 yards.

“He’s the real deal,” said Big Foot coach Rodney Wedig.

Austin Fritzinger threw a 20-yard TD pass to Marcus McLin and then scored on a 10-yard run.

The Comets had 297 yards rushing and 63 passing.

Big Foot lost starting quarterback Jake Wedig to an injury in the second series of the game. He is scheduled to undergo an MRI today to determine the extent of the injury.

The Chiefs (0-2), who have won 28 of their last 30 regular-season games, suffered consecutive losses for the first time since 2005.
