Beloit Snappers win in 11 innings

CLINTON, IOWA — The Beloit Snappers defeated the host Clinton Lumber-Kings, 4-3, in 11 innings to stay alive in the Midwest League baseball Western Division wild-card race.

With the victory, the Snappers (33-29) remained one game behind Kane County

(35-29) with five regular-season games remaining.

Wang-Wei Lin singled home Aaron Hicks with the winning run. Hicks smacked a leadoff single and advanced to third on a throwing error on James Beresford’s sacrifice bunt.

Reliever Eliecer Cardenas coaxed a double-play ball to seal the win and gain his eighth save. Miguel Munoz (12-5) allowed one hit in 2 2/3 innings of relief to earn the victory.
