Burlington’s big innings sink Beloit

— The Beloit Snappers were the victims of two four-run rallies as they suffered a 9-5 loss to the visiting Burlington Bees in Midwest League baseball Tuesday night at Pohlman Field.

Beloit (32-29) remained a game behind Kane County (34-29) in the chase for the Midwest League wild-card berth. Kane County lost, 16-4, to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.


The Snappers led 2-0 after four innings, but the Bees went up 4-2 in a four-run fifth. They increased it to 9-2 in a fourth-run eighth.


Burlington reached Beloit starter Tom Stuifbergen (6-3) for five runs on eight hits through the first 6 2/3 innings. Reliever Eliecer Cardenas allowed four runs on one hit and three walks in 2/3 innings.
