Janesville electrical company closes shop
Company officials could not be reached Tuesday, and no one appeared to be at the locked office at 1133 N. Touson Drive.
Bob Borremans, executive director of the workforce
development board, said his agency and the state had not received notification of the closure, but he did confirm the closing with area contractors, he said.
"We're trying to get a hold of people to see if we can set up a rapid response activity for the workforce," he said.
Employees laid off in
the closing should go to the Rock County Job Center, he said. Staff there can explain the benefits package available to affected workers, Borremans said.
The package includes access to job searches at the center, workshops, career planning, possible training money and assistance in finding a new job, he said.
The business employed 50 workers during the second quarter this year, according to a report on Nielsen Claritas Business-Facts provided by Eric Kuznacic, employer and business services manager at the workforce development board.
According to the McGrath Electrical website, the company does commercial, industrial and institutional work.
