Palmyra-Eagle, Parkview volleyball sweeps

Palmyra-Eagle High School overcame a second-game loss to down visiting Darlington, 3-1, in a WIAA Division 3 regional quarterfinal girls volleyball match Tuesday.

Richelle Ranney led the Panthers with 22 kills and three blocks.

The Panthers (17-12) play at second-seeded Cuba City in Friday's semifinal. The Cubans were state runners-up last season.

Friday's winner takes on Deerfield or Orfordville Parkview on Saturday for the berth in the Wisconsin Heights Sectional.

Samantha Thomson had 19 assists and Morgan Strzok had nine kills for Parkview (18-23).

Division 4

Albany survived two close games in defeating visiting Williams Bay, 3-0, in a Division 4 quarterfinal match.

The Comets (21-3) travel to South Wayne Blackhawk for a semifinal match on Friday, which pairs into the Lake Country Lutheran Sectional.

After her team won the first game, 25-19, Kaitlyn Schulz served seven points to lead Albany to a 25-21 second-game victory. The Comets closed the match with a 25-14 win.

Sydney Bump had seven aces and 19 kills for Albany.

-- Monticello 3, Faith Christian 1—Taylor Klitzke led the Ponies to a quarterfinal victory over the Eagles at Williams Bay.

Monticello plays at Burlington Catholic Central in Friday's regional semfinals. The winner plays Albany or South Wayne Black Hawk on Saturday for a spot in the Lake Country Lutheran Sectional.
