— After renovating Mercy Hospital, the health care system is opening its doors for what it's calling a "large-scale" open house Saturday afternoon.

The community is invited from 1 to 4:30 p.m. at the hospital, 1000 Mineral Point Ave., Janesville. The event includes:

-- Walk With Your Doc, an informational one-mile stroll from 1 to 1:30 p.m.

-- Free kids activities and refreshments. All kids can get photos taken with StreetSmart, Mercy's safety superhero.

-- Behind-the-scene tours of the newly renovated hospital, healthy snacks, a fitness obstacle course, and bike safety and how the body works demonstrations.

Tours of Rock County's emergency vehicles, nutrition booths and free screenings will be offered, as well. Screenings will include blood pressure, vision, cholesterol, glucose, breast and prostate.

Agility and fitness testing also will be offered, along with flu shots. The first 100 flu shots will be free.

Appointments are required for breast and prostate screenings and can be made by calling (608) 756-6100.

-- Bucky Badger will pose for photos, while Janesville Jets will give free hockey tips. WJVL Star Country will be on-site.

-- Antonio Freeman, former Green Bay Packer, will sign autographs from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
