— The Janesville Transit System is reporting a drop in ridership and a rise in revenue after a fare increase was instituted at the beginning of the year.

Transit Director, Dave Mumma, says the ridership decrease for the first six months of the year is 7.6% while the revenue increase is 6.8%. Mumma says the same thing happened the last time a fare increase was established.

Mumma says all of the routes suffered a drop in ridership with the extra service routes for the schools seeing a 14% loss. The Beloit / Janesville Express continues to be popular and only had a drop of about 2%.
